Laser for dogs, at home in London
Light is one of the oldest gifts in nature. At the right wavelength, it reaches the cells beneath the coat and gives them the energy to do what they already know how to do. I bring a professional 904 nm laser into your dog's own home, anywhere in London, as one part of the Synergy Protocol.
What laser is
What is laser for dogs?
Light, at a wavelength the body can use. My laser works at 904 nm, in the near-infrared, so it is invisible to the eye. Its light is absorbed inside the cell, in the part that makes its energy, and research suggests it supports energy production and circulation in the area. I have worked with laser since 2012, when I trained with the Swedish Laser-Medical Society.
What will my dog feel?
The laser is quiet, it does not get warm and it does not hurt. Most dogs feel nothing at all, or only a faint sensation.
Why have laser at home?
No car journey, no waiting room and no unfamiliar smells. Your dog stays where they feel safest, and the session goes at their pace.
What is the difference between laser and LED?
They are often confused, but they are different kinds of light.
| Laser | LED | |
|---|---|---|
| The light | One exact wavelength | A spread of wavelengths |
| Coherence | Coherent. All the light waves are the same, and they travel together in one direction. | Not coherent. The light waves are mixed, and they travel in many directions. |
| The beam | Narrow and focused | Spreads out as it leaves the light |
| Knowing what you give | The exact wavelength is known | Harder to know exactly which light reaches the body |
| Colours | Every colour of the rainbow, and infrared. Each laser gives one exact colour. | Every colour of the rainbow, and infrared. Often several mixed together. |
| Strength | Professional lasers are far stronger than home devices | Ranges from home gadgets to professional panels |
Each wavelength has its own properties, which is why knowing the exact one matters. My laser is for professional use only, at one exact wavelength: 904 nm, in the near-infrared.
Why 904 nm?
The colour of light decides how far it travels into the body. Green stays at the surface, and red reaches the skin and a little beneath. Near-infrared travels furthest: through the coat and skin, into the tissue beneath. With the right settings, pulsed or superpulsed, the same 904 nm light can also work closer to the surface. That makes it one of the most versatile wavelengths there is.
Laser and your dog's wellbeing
What can laser support?
Light gives the cells the energy to do their own work. Research on laser for dogs suggests it supports:
- circulation in the area
- energy production in the cells
- comfortable, easy movement
- the skin and coat
- rest and recovery after activity
When might a vet refer a dog for laser?
Vets refer dogs for laser at many stages of life, including for:
- arthritis and stiff joints
- recovery after surgery or injury
- wound healing
- inflammation and pain
- itchy skin and allergies
- sore skin
In every one of these, sessions take place only with your vet's referral, alongside their care.
Your questions
Is laser used on its own?
Rarely. Each element has its own gift: laser, massage, botanicals, nutrition and Reiki. Together, led by your dog on the day, they become the Synergy Protocol.
What about the eyes?
I keep the light well away from the eyes, and protective glasses are there for anyone who would like them.
Which dogs is it for?
Every dog, puppy or senior, active or lazy. On the days when nothing is wrong, a session is a gift. Begun early, it becomes a foundation for more good years together.
Does my vet need to be involved?
If your dog has an injury, an illness or a diagnosed condition, I need a referral from your vet, along with your dog's clinical history, before we begin. My sessions sit alongside your vet's care and never replace it. Your vet can send me their referral at lahwellbeing.com/vet-referral.
Where do you visit?
Homes in Chelsea, Fulham, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Mayfair, Marylebone and Notting Hill, and further across London.
How long is a session, and how often?
Up to 40 minutes. Most families choose a regular slot, once or more a week, because each session builds on the one before. Fees are on my Fees page.
